December 19, 2020 – The Historic Preservation Commission congratulates Roger Uden, winner of the Christmas Dinner Food Basket Raffle. We are truly grateful that they are a part of our community!
Congratulations to Gilbert Warner of Hoopeston. He was the lucky winner of the weed trimmer from the Historic Preservation Commission’s Spring Power Equipment Raffle. The trimmer was donated by Olympic Do it Best Hardware in Hoopeston. Pictured left to right with the winner is owners, Chuck Pajor & Jim Pajor and commission members Jeanette Andre”, Kristy Kelnhofer and Valarie Hinkle. Golf Cart parade on May 30, 2021
1st Place for best decorated cart “Birthday Cake”. Winners lead the parade to McFerren Park, where an ice cream social was hosted by the Historic Preservation Commission. All attendees receive a free ice cream from the Hoopeston Rotary Club.
2nd Place finish for best decorated golf cart was “Stars & Stripes”. A fun event, perfect weather, and delicious ice cream.
This postal cart and other items were recently on display for the sesquicentennial celebration at the Hoopeston Post Office. The original description that is posted was from the centennial celebration in 1971.
